"Wireless Waste Cell Phone Roundup" Slated for November
Keep America Beautiful, Phi Theta Kappa's International Service Program partner, with telephone providers Sprint and ReCellular, will again host the "Wipe Out Wireless Waste Cell Phone Roundup" during November. The Roundup is a public awareness platform designed to help increase recovery of retired wireless phones. Resources for participating chapters include talking points, key messages and web banners for linking consumers to free downloadable mailing labels. Watch for more resources, coming soon. Recycling cell phones benefits the environment and also aids persons in developing countries. As much as 65,000 tons of wireless waste, which contain toxic materials, is generated annually by cell phone disposal. Visit the Keep America Beautiful website and learn more.
