What is the Faculty Scholar Conference?
The purpose of the Faculty Scholar Conference is to prepare the Faculty Scholars for their role as seminar leaders at the summer Honors Institute. Sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Conference will feature a series of presentations on Phi Theta Kappa's 2008-2010 Honors Study Topic "The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges, and Consequences", from interdisciplinary, humanities-based perspectives.
The Conference will educate the Faculty Scholars about issues of vital importance to the Honors Study Topic and familiarize them with their fellow Faculty Scholars.
The 2009 Faculty Scholar Conference will be held January 29 - February 1, 2009, at the Center for Excellence in Jackson, MS.
What is the International Honors Institute?
The International Honors Institute is a six-day intensive exploration of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Study Topic. Participants will hear presentations by experts on various aspects of the Honors Study Topic, enjoy field trips related to the Topic, and experience time to discuss and reflect upon what they have learned.
During the Honors Institute, Faculty Scholars are responsible for leading seminar groups of about 18-22 people in discussions of the issues presented throughout the week.
The 2009 International Honors Institute will be held June 22-26, 2009, at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA.
