New Century Scholars
Meet the 2008 New Century Scholars.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, the Coca-Cola Foundation, the American
Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa jointly sponsor the New
Century Scholars, an additional scholarship and national recognition opportunity
available only to students nominated to the All-USA Academic Team.
This year, the program has been expanded to include 2 new awards for a total of 52 New Century Scholars. New this year, one scholar will be selected from Alberta, Canada and one scholar will be selected from among the seven sovereign nations and U.S. territories where Phi Theta Kappa chapters exist.
- 52 total awards (2 new this year)
- $2,000 stipend awarded to the top scoring nominee in Alberta, Canada
- $2,000 stipend awarded to the top scoring nominee from a two year college with a Phi Theta Kappa chapter outside of Canada and the United States
- $2,000 stipend awarded to the top scoring All-USA Academic Team nominee in each of the 50 states in the U.S.
- Winners will receive recognition and stipends at the American Association of Community Colleges Convention April 4-6, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona
- Winners are featured in AACC's Community College Times and Community College Journal and on Phi Theta Kappa's website
